In the current roster, the listing of cases is the prerogative of the Chief Justice of India at the Supreme Court, who is the master of the roster. When a lawyer believe a case needs to be resolved urgently, lawyers are expected to mention their request to the Chief Justice in open court. It is solely the CJI's discretion to decide when to list the case, if at all.
